Bridges Curriculum Preschool - Bridges Montessori Academy: This curriculum is founded on the premise that sensory motor development is the basis for intellectual development, that the child goes through sensitive periods in particular areas and that children exhibit different learning styles. This program offers rich experiences in practical life, sensorial, language, math, geography, science and art. Experiences are self-directed using a hands-on manipulative approach in an atmosphere of respect and freedom within limits. This program is designed as a three year curriculum. Each class is a mix of 3 to 5-year-olds. This arrangement offers numerous social experiences and develops sense of community. Kindergarten - Bridges Academy: The Bridges' Kindergarten was designed as a bridge between the Montessori experience and the upper grades. It is a program for the 5-year-old who is ready for a multi-disciplinary, thematic curriculum that is facilitated by the teacher. First through Fifth - Bridges Academy: First through Fifth Grade classes follow with a pre-developed curriculum that is presented in individual, small group and whole group learning experiences. Respect for each child's learning style and academic development is the standard to which Bridges aspires. Unit themes in the Academy are woven throughout the academic areas including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and art. Community resources and field trips are incorporated to enrich class-room experiences. Classes have a limited size and a small adult-to-child ratio to ensure the greatest depth of experience for each Bridges' child. Programs
